That is not the way it has been handled in the past.

SEC has many more important things to regulate. The same situation has happened quite a few times in the past and as far as I know, there has never been one shut down in this situation.

In fact I know many who are already having to buy back shares to cover. It was also obvious the MM's were scrambling the last hour of the day as well.

We shall see the next few weeks. Tomorrow will be a good indication. I will be very surprised if it doesn't gap up tomorrow and continue to move up for the next few weeks.
