Start studying the concept of Investment Pyramid. Most risky is at the top and the most value is at the bottom. The bottom's far bigger than the top. Asset Preservation is a must since the pension is in jeopardy. How quickly does that $20K salary ramp to something more satisfying? How much of it can you sideline for your own personal retirement in a self directed account. You have only 12 years to save. Best regards, Tom
