That might be "smart" but it would not be wise. One of the first rules of a gently Machiavellian politician is to speak kindly of one's predecessor. If you do not do so, you will sure to discover (if you are still alive) that you have been repaid in kind.

By his own actions, Bernanke can distance himself from Greenspan's legacy. He's not like a congressman who can be voted out of office before his opinions begin to show themselves to be correct. He may have to listen to a lot of criticism for 2-3 years, as Paul Volcker did. Greenspan was corrupted by excessive reverence.
