The problem is that if the palestinians had stopped whining and killing, Israel would have given them more land. Even the Fence the israelis are trying to build is because of the Murderous attempts of the palestinians. Kofi Annan has sacrificed any credibility the UN might have had, in the region because all of the countries in the region can see that he screwed Israel on the ceasefire. While that may be fine for lebanon and the Arabs in this case, no one can be sure he will act impartially, or without his own agenda in any other case. Since not one of the agreements in the ceasefire is being enforced, how will anyone in the region trust him next time. The answer is, they can't. And if no one can trust the UN what good is it? There is also a long history of UN failure when it comes to genocide in Africa, so that more and more the UN becomes less and less viable.
