Your grey area is exactly what concerns me. If you're suffering and circling the drain but still a long time away from a natural death, you have to choose between taking your life early before you are too disabled to pull it off or finding yourself stuck, lingering miserably, and unable to do the deed yourself. That's why I support allowing someone to help you without penalty. IMO it's cruel to make someone either linger that way or ask someone to risk his liberty by helping you.
