Some speculation from a blogger on a possible starting point for the FBI investigation... alaskanabroad.typepad.com Full cast I'm getting a lot of questions about a 2002 House bill by Pete Kott and Eldon Mulder – HB519. The bill was supposed to set the stage for a natural gas pipeline but reportedly was little more than a giveaway to the oil industry. An Act authorizing priority treatment under the Right-of-Way Leasing Act for an Alaska North Slope natural gas project; expanding the scope for the kinds of gas development projects that may become qualified projects under the Alaska Stranded Gas Development Act; extending the deadline for submitting applications under the Alaska Stranded Gas Development Act; exempting an Alaska North Slope natural gas project from state property tax and all municipal taxes during construction; and providing for an effective date. The bill was heavily pushed by VECO but was too flawed to make it past the Legislature. This is looking like the most likely starting point for the FBI investigation into influence peddling.
