The San Carlos phone book shows a listing for "Tesla Motors". They are in the pink pages that list by business name. They have no entries under "Automobile Manufacturers and Distributors" or "Automobile Dealers- -New", so it can't be said what they do there.

However, their websites says only 100 cars have been sold to date. Considering we run tens of thousands of cars an hour on the freeways around here, they can hardly be said to be common.

And even you have to admit that at $100K a copy, the car won't be very common ever. They have to reduce that price by 75-80% to take on the likes of Toyota in volume.
