I've been doing come searches on the concrete in the WTC since there seems to be doubt by some that the concrete could break into mostly small pieces. The answer seems to be that the bulk of the concrete in the WTC1 & 2 at least was poured over the floor trusses to make a level floor. This was essentially broad, thin, and flat streches of concrete which were easily smashed.

The other main source of concrete was for the walls of stairwells. This concrete held together in larger chunks. I believe there were even a half dozen or so people who survived in an uncrushed section of stairwell.

The columns were all steel covered with fireproofing, but not concrete.
