Patricia Shehan - All Headline News Staff Writer Rockville, MD (AHN) - According to a recent press release, the United States Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) requested the U.S. Marshals to seize the dietary supplements being distributed by a Fort Walton Beach, FL company, Advantage Nutraceuticals, L.L.C. The company allegedly made false claims of these supplements through mislabeling and promotional marketing.
The seized drugs, Ellagimax capsules, Coral Max capsules, Coral Max without Iron capsules and Advanced Arthritis Support capsules had an approximate value of $55,000.
The alleged false claims of these products were promoted through the drugs labels, literature, audio cassette tapes, and a couple of Internet websites. It is believed that these claims are in violation of the "new drug and misbranding provisions" of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.
The company was promoting these supplements to aid with serious diseases, such as cancer, arthritis and seizures without FDA approval.
An ongoing investigation of the company is being carried out, and the FDA warns consumers to consult with their physicians before taking any products such as these. |
