I think that the military "ounce of effort" is working out quite well, all things considered. How many people were killed in ww2? If this is ww3, things are really well contained. Really, Iran and N Korea are propoganda enemies with no immediagte risk, IMO.

Iran is trying to avoid negotiation to demonstrate a path of autonomy against the global order. They have the resources and capital as long as oil prices remain high, but what happens if oil heads south. They are fucked.

N Korea is only dangerous because they have nothing. It's much harder to predict their course of action. I hope they are just trying to be pricks to negotiate the best possible economic package if they convert their country to global order and compliance. They don't have any support for global jihad like the Iranians, so the case is limited in scope. The US is demanding that S Korea take over their military obligations in the next few years. To me, that doesn't suggest that we are too concerned about the reality of their words.
