Don't forget about the beta associated with any given stock.

Lets say for the sake of argument that Kirk is right and we have already seen a bottom for this Presidential cycle;

Which stocks can be expected to outperform most on the upswing?

Stocks with the highest beta!

How often do we see the same stocks outperform each cycle?

Almost never.

LRCX can be expected to do well but in my humble opinion much of the next cycle's advance may already be built in from the huge advance off the last cycle's (October 2002) bottom for LRCX.

As for the cycle table Kirk referred to I can find it and post it if anyone is truly interested.

At some point you just have to pick a handful of stocks and ride them as the economy begins to expand again. Just don't forget to sell them when everything looks great because these stocks will always be cyclical.
