I think that is exactly correct John. In fact one could go back to post second world war where we were running huge deficits, but we had little debt and we controlled the world economically.

Neither of those are true now. And look at what Johnsons' "guns and butter brought us" stagflation and 21% interest rates and $850 gold.

A trillion dollar deficit for both foreign and domestic and the dollar tanks huge. It could collapse! An economics professor I played poker with awhile back gave it a 15% chance of collapse.

He taught at western Washington University.
