NK is a nation-state in asia. Islamic terrorism is a movement in the middle east and south asia with tentacles into the far east, europe and the americas. Not comprable as existential threats go. For the moment NK can do more damage but they exist in the domain of SK and China. What happens in the mideast affects us big time as in 9-11.
So oil was a component but so was low hanging fruit as an example and subsequent democracy as an example. Wilson was as much to blame for iraq as Exxon.
