BroadSoft partners with service provider Marcatel Tuesday September 12, 12:07 pm ET
One of the largest service providers in Mexico is using software from BroadSoft to help deliver voice services to its data customers.
Marcatel, which serves more than 80,000 business customers in Mexico, says Web-based, or Voice over Internet Protocol, software from Broadsoft will enable the carrier to offer a suite of VoIP services to small and medium-sized businesses and residential broadband voice customers.
"Not only has BroadSoft enabled us to venture into new markets by adding voice to our data offerings, but the platform also allows us to add features and expand our services as we go," says Tim Heaney, Marcatel's operations director, in a statement.
Marcatel says it will deliver BroadSoft's VoIP applications through its partner, Chelmsford, Mass.-based Sonus Networks (NASDAQ: SONS - News).
Gaitersburg-based BroadSoft continues to sign up customers for its Internet-based telephone offerings. In mid-July, the company said it would supply its software to Lexington, Mass.-based DSCI, enabling the telecom to offer voice and data services to midsized businesses throughout New England.
BroadSoft's customers include some of the giants in the telecom industry, such as Atlanta-based BellSouth (NYSE: BLS - News), New York-based Verizon (NYSE: VZ - News) and Reston-based XO Communications (OTCBB: XOHO - News).
