TJ, I am going to have to go to Palawan or Boracay. Sitting here in Waikiki, it's very nice, but the Philippine maid mentioned those two places to me, with a wistful sigh, so I went there in cyberspace and they are indeed very attractive natural phenomena.

Economically, this place seems to be bustling along, with large constructions proceeding, renovations renewing and swarms of tourists swarming.

As for raising the minimum wage in California, I wonder if they simultaneously raise the minimum wage for illegal aliens, aka Mexicans, who work under the radar following border crossing.

If they don't, then unemployment will surely rise in the USA as the difference between what Americans are paid and what Mexicans are paid increases, unless they have been careful and have found that the going rate for Mexicans is well above the official minimum pay rate already. After all, the minimum pay rate is just the rate at which the attraction of being a bludger is barely sufficient to attract about 5% of the population.

We had a pet cat for years. We didn't need one. It was nice to have Daphne hanging around the place. The welfare people are like pet cats = well within disposable income for the rest to keep on the payroll. When push really comes to shove, the minimum pay will be pushed down so that people on the dole do NOT get paid well above the income of a professor at a university in China.

I can't see why I should pay an ignorant layabout more than a CDMA phragmented photon engineering school professor in China is paid. One does something useful, the other is human entropy.

I will give you that such a situation can only continue if there is something very wrong with the world. Which there has been = China was kept down by their repressive authoritarians. Now they are able to do business around the world and tectonic shifts are in process. The winner will not be the dole bludger minimum wage crowd in California.

PS: There's Bora Bora, [land of the Coconut], Tora Bora and Boracay. What's this Bora thing? There's also Tora, Tora, Tora which seems to have something in common with Tora Bora. What's this Tora thing? I think, from what I've seen that I like the Bora of life, but not the Tora.
