PREMIS Corporation Announces an Agreement to Provide Cotton Ginny Limited with its Windows NT-based Retail Management System - PREMIS OpenEnterprise (my comments follow at the bottom- of course! -T.)

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 1997--PREMIS Corp. (NASDAQ:PMIS) announced today it has signed an agreement with Cotton Ginny Limited, a Toronto, Ontario-based specialty fashion retailer, to license its enterprise-wide retail management system - PREMIS OpenEnterprise.

Cotton Ginny was in search of enterprise-wide retail management system for their retail stores and head office. ``We wanted a graphical, intuitive and easy to use POS system that would meet our needs today and into the future,'' states Doug Edwards, VP Logistics & Technology. ``We believe that the architecture of PREMIS OpenEnterprise will provide us with a competitive advantage while providing us a standard, off-the-shelf application that will grow with Cotton Ginny in the future. Among the many other benefits, we believe it will significantly improve our overall customer service through enhanced customer profiling capabilities and real-time store to head office communications.'' The company operates 300 stores under Cotton Ginny, Cotton Ginny Plus and Tabi International brand names throughout Canada. Roll-out of all 300 stores is scheduled to proceed in the Spring of 1998.

Cotton Ginny will also be implementing the PREMIS OpenOffice retail management system on a Windows NT Server running on a Microsoft SQL Server database. This includes the OpenOffice Base System as well as Transfer Management and Client Management modules. By implementing PREMIS OpenEnterprise suite of products, Cotton Ginny can adjust to rapidly changing customer demands and internal information requirements using this comprehensive, enterprise-wide retail management solution.

``This is a significant milestone for PREMIS. It represents the culmination of five years of design and development based on input from customers, prospects and retail industry experts,'' states Fritz Biermeier, President and CEO of PREMIS Corporation. ``PREMIS OpenStore takes full advantage of a true object-oriented architecture. This revolutionary new architecture represents a philosophical shift in the way retail management systems are designed to meet customer specific requirements. The architecture (framework) provides the flexibility to configure application functionality to meet customer specific business rules without changing the underlying architecture common to all PREMIS OpenStore customers. This is a powerful advantage for retailers who are keenly aware of the short and long term costs associated with implementing customized retail systems.''

PREMIS Corporation develops, markets and supports a line of enterprise-wide retail automation solutions to meet the information needs of multi-store specialty and general merchandise retailing chains. PREMIS retail applications include PREMIS OpenEnterprise which has three primary components, PREMIS OpenStore - comprehensive in-store point of sale and back office system, PREMIS OpenNet - a unified family of communications and networking products to expand your headquarters operations out to the store and PREMIS OpenOffice - an integrated head office retail management system.
