I have been reading the thread all day and haven't said much. I will give my 2 cents for what its worth just based on my feelings and observations. For those who don't care for me or my opinions just click "next" now.
In my opinion, what has gone on with this stock is a classic example of what goes on every single day. First, all the firms upgrade the stock..the stock skyrockets...often on piggybacking upgrades. Somewhere along the line the word gets to the analysts that asnd is in POTENTIAL trouble this quarter. The big boys start to unload as the small guys support the stock on what they see as a "dip" and a "bargain." But the bottom falls out as one by one the downgrades come. The stock is then taken down to a level below what the stock is reasonably priced at given future growth potential and the stock is now at a discount. But along the way down management starts to get worried about where the bottom may be so they leak out some news about the pending two contracts. The stock levels at 32 and change and starts up to put the value of the contracts back in the stock. Hence we have very little bang out of the UUNET announcement today..although it is certainly good news for those who can see past tomorrow. Now we have a stock price leveled off in a range still far below what the stock will be after earnings. Those on this thread insinuating that if ASND earns 29 cents the bottom will fall out are merely shorts wishing!! The stock has already priced in this quarter and ASND has made sure that once the numbers are out everyone will have plenty to look at as far as future quarters. hence the stock price will rise whether we see 29 cents or 35 cents, the question is merely how much. I agree if you are a short term trader you can play these swings like Tim and others do, and they appear to do it very well. I am usually a short term trader but in ASND's case I will wait till after earnings with what I have now. It is very apparent to me that the upgrade today came not so that firms clients could dump some more, but rather so that firm could go on record as the first firm to upgrade ASND after this mess. When the other firms start upgrading, whether it is before or after earnings no matter, this firm will look awful good to its clients that it upgraded when it did today. I respect the b@#ls they had to do that today instead of waiting for the rest of the pack. In life there are followers and leaders.... What firm would tell their clients to dump ASND today at 37 ?? Ok, there may be a couple to a few points downside between now and earnings, especially intraday, but if you can see past tomorrow so to speak this is a spectacular buy. I respect the short position but some of the people on this thread must think the rest of us are nuts!! Well, I am done. Am I that far off??
P.S- By the way, with regards to X208..he and I communicate a lot through email and he is also a very short term trader. i think that is why you see him with long term calls on anet but short term wants to short it at 13 1/2 to 14. he and I both feel ANET will be great long term but will probably burp pretty bad near term at earnings. Could be wrong though. In any case, someone mentioned the Pair rumor re: to LU and I remember that on the Pair thread also. X208 called the rumor..and then the floor was a buzz 2 days later about the rumor. So X heard the rumor the same way the floor did..except he put it to the thread first!! It never happened but does that really matter?? All the longs made money and the fact it was on CNBC as a rumor confirmed his info, whereever it came from, was not all that bad. And Brad, I am sure he was being scarcastic about Etrade and got just the reaction from someone that he was looking for!!
