I don't have any good recommended reading on options. I have a text book called "Options as a Strategic Investment" but I have probably lost more money with options then I have made.

While at first it seems silly, often I'll buy calls as a placeholder while I look further into a stock. I would say that I've done better being a seller (writer) of options than a buyer.

I would say that the best way to make money is the method that you're pursuing. What's tempting about options is that you feel you can do more with less, when often you can lose more with less.

Anyway, sorry but if I ever know the area better maybe I can be more helpful.
