That's good. So, sins are redundant to secular laws? (Maybe vice-versa...) Which makes speeding or drunk in public "sins?" But saying "goddammit" isn't a sin?

Lennin (I think) said "religion is an opiate for the masses." That, I think parallels your 'second utility of religion.' He seemed to ignore your 'first utility,' that of subliminal control of populations. But, up through at least the 18th Century, the 'first utility' was strongly employed by governments, to the point of making royalty devine.

I pretty much reject the concept of sin. Things can be good or bad, but I dislike the religiosity of the word since it can be defined so differently by so many different people. The same goes for the word "evil."
