Make sure of the ease of use. Find someone who has actually used the scanner to relate their experience. I have a HP Flatbed scanner with a slide adapter, and it is a pain to use. The quality of the reproductions are not all that good so I too would like to find something better, but apparently there is not that big a market for slide reproductions.
