I think that some answers can be deduced based on trial and error. I'd say if we get out of their face in the ME, their rate of tension should decrease (because clearly having us there has increased it). If it doesn't work out that way, we can try something else, but I would expect that to do wonders. Getting in their face only works if you are ready and willing to take all their faces off, and we really aren't. While some folks on SI talk like Attila, our society just isn't ready to put on the mantle of hunship.

Life is an experiment, whether it's an individual life, or the lives of nations. "Staying the course" when you have a failed experiment isn't a good idea. We now know several things that don't work. Time for something new. imo There, I've figured it all out. See you later alligator.
