Ralph-lol! If a man does everything perfectly, but beats his dog or children, he is barbaric.

Caning is barbaric! And I will not even go into the ethics of the death penalty.

Well, maybe a little-lol. Any sophisticated society, sentient being or god would realize everyone is a product of their environment and biology to a large degree. Free will being the unknown variable-lol.

So if a father beat a child to the extent he creates a monster serial killer we weep for the child, but have to remove the man from society.

But remembering the child, we do not execute the man, or cane him-lol. We just remove him from society where he cannot hurt people.

That is how gods, sentient beings and enlightened societies address such problems.

Societies who kill or cane people or torture them in any manner, no matter what they have done, are barbaric societies.
