And the investment would pay dividends in lower gas prices and more disposable income. It would, essentially, be a tax cut on the entire economy... not only personal costs, but the movement of all goods.

I'm not sold on hydrogen as a short term solution... aren't we a way off from affordable applications? But plug in hybrids could get us there rather quickly.
