Mindmeld, I respect your opinion, but personally I don't think the Dems are that much more into oil independence than the GOP is. A lot of their policies will make us MORE dependent on foreign oil, at least in the short term. Long-term, their policies may indeed make us less dependent on oil in general, but I doubt their resolve in getting us there.

And yes, it's easy to point out how this current administration is only making token gestures toward alternative energy. But it won't be too long before Bush and co. are gone. In the meantime, I suppose voting for an all Democrat Congress might be good because it will actually force Bush to veto a few spending bills.

Just be careful what you wish for, though. You might just get it. ACLU, Middle Eastern appeasement, poll-driven policies, socialist economics, etc.
