I realize that your post was necessarily brief and that there's a lot going on behind those two statements, but to this outsider they seem incompatible. If one is saved through faith, then judgment re how one treats one's brothers would be irrelevant, or at best peripheral. FWIW.

I guess that's a relative thing. Maybe there was even greater diversity in the past. I don't know. But there seems to me to be a whole lot now. We have, for example, Christians on both sides of the aisle who have totally different ideas about the priorities and responsibilities of Christians. You have folks that think they are called to wash the feet of the poor and bear no arms. And folks who are called to correct sinners and smite enemies. Each can make a case based on scripture.
