New ink question for ye'll:

Is it possible to just put a bit of scotch tape over the cartridge to save the ink when not gonna use it for 6 mos? Since it is packaged with tape which one must remove to use it, it seems logical that this would work.
Reason I ask, is going on an extended trip away from this printer, going to use another printer/another city
