That is the key. For an example of what could be the ideal commercial machine, look at the Sunray 170.

Now the Sunray is a thin client. But there isn't any real reason why it can't have an integrated hard drive and slot fed optical drive. If low profile, notebook drives are used, then the screen would only be a couple of centimeters thick. True, it would have limited expandability, but I don't think that is as big an issue as it was a few years back.
