Elderly Popes probably have several writers
working for them--I wonder how the offending
portion sneaked through.

Whoops!

Forgetting a moment your snide reply to me recently

How easy it is to offend! There are so many ways
to be disarming when you speak face-to-face.

I am pretty sure Texas was talking about this:

Note, that even though I strongly cautioned Texas...
"No offense intended of course!"

Of course what set Texas off was the
style of the post (short and snippy) the use of the word
fairytale (condescending) and the fact that three guys came
along and recommended the post (which of course is silly--
there was nothing of substance worth recommending).

If I were speaking to Texas face-to-face, that would
have been interpreted as a friendly jibe--I'd have
been grinning of course <g> and Texas immediately could
have come back with a snide, but joking remark of his
own. There are many ways to save face when you go back
and forth--but it is a lot more difficult in this format.

In any event, I am sorry to have offended! Sorry Texas!

Now, can you tell if the apology is genuine? No, I have
to PM Texas and apologize again there (and I am indeed
sorry for the remark).

Whew! This is the nature two dimensional communication.
