Great Microprocessors of the Past and Present:ShBoom-Patriot Scientific
Christine-Good point on looking at new architectures.
PSC1000-ShBoom is a patented new achitecture that implements "elegant simplicity".
Data provided in another related post below.

EXCERPTS:
..."ShBoom"....."It would give Java a good home."....

..."The ShBoom architecture is a very innovative and elegant attempt at combining stack and register oriented architectures, with emphasis on the stack operation simplicity. It would give Java a good home."....

A. Can check recent GENROCO design win press release here. The PSC1000-ShBoom Microprocessor to increase data transfer rates by 2000%
(yes-20 times) for GENROCO. This design win was in the non-Java arena.
PTSC/GENROCO press release EXCERPT:
..."We even compared real-time code on a 500 MHz, several hundred dollar Alpha chip against the PSC1000 and in most of the important cases for us, the PSC1000 was faster..."

B. Look for Java Processor ShBoom performance to be released in next few days. Patriot Scientific will be at the Embedded Systems Conference week of 29 Sept and at the Java in Hawaii Licensee conference in Kona, Hawaii the same week.

Price will be very low on this microprocessor due to "elegant simplicity" of the design.

Aloha,
Delite
