Most of the steel was a room temperature though. About 70 floors. Those floors should have delayed the chain reaction collapse a bit.

Now, here's an idea. If each corner of the building was suddenly move outwards (and each side moved outwards too), kapow !!! , all the floors go down in 9 seconds. The top one hitting the ground at 324 km/hr. Trouble is the steel core still would be left standing.

btw. I always thought the little streamer puffs seen during the collapse were local pressure points where explosive failure occurred (i.e. entirely normal) because of the overstressed conditions and the steel beams transmitting a shock wave. Never really thought they were streamers from explosives. Until perhaps now of course.
