>>As for Al Qaeda - Its never been shown that Iraq had significant ties to Al Qaeda, but its clear that Iraq was connected to and supported terrorism.<<

Tim -

Even granting that Iraq had some connection to terrorism and supported it (at least to the extent of sending money to the families of Palestinian "martyrs"), it is (and really was at the time) quite clear that Iraq was not a major player where global terrorism was concerned. Their involvement was too minor to make them a real threat to the United States.

Thus, putting so much of our attention and resources into that sinkhole was inadvisable. In my opinion, the net effect has been to weaken our security as a nation.

In his most recent press conference, Bush once again mentioned 9/11 while discussing Iraq. Then a reporter asked him an unusually direct question: "What does Iraq have to do with 9/11?" and Bush replied, "Nothing."
