Bush's approvals are not much higher. They got their Saudi pals to drop the oil prices until after the election and they're spending 100 million to scream ARMAGEDDON! a million times, but they're no more trusted or liked or agreed with. BAsically one third of the country is either stupid or willing to tolerate these neo-fascists, and a few more percent grudgingly might vote for anything Republican. That's it though.

All the people who thought in 2000 and 2004 that Bush might not be so bad, have changed their minds. They will either vote against Bushies or not show up to vote at all. And there's nothing Bushies can do to change that. The vast majority want an entirely new congress and a big change in the senate.

Also, new polls have Bush dropping back a few points after his peak on the 9-11 anniversary when he shamelessly polarized the nation about that event, which he allowed to happen. Don't be surprised if he's back to 32% soon.
