My favorite inkjet cartridge supplier is BulkInkjet Carts, $1.39 black or color for my Canon ip3000. I've bought several batches during the past year + and the quality has been excellent. bulkinkjetcarts.com

Some brands do better than others using compatible cartridges. Canon is very good, Epson is notorious for clogging the printhead with compatibles. That's been my personal experience as well.

Some printer manufactures use chips in the cartridge to thwart generics and refillers. Canon recently joined this bunch. I don't know if the newer Canons can be refilled or will accept compatibles. A great place to find out anything related to this subject is the Nifty-Stuff inkjet forum. nifty-stuff.com
