I think the point of your outrage, namely taxing people for their religion, is a cultural thing, not necessarily bad in and of itself. Just different.

You can be tolerant, because you live in a country where religious differences are tolerated.

If you lived under Islamic law, you'd see for yourself whether it's "just different."
