So what you are saying is that you do not have a SIRIUS radio or you have not received the latest update. SIRIUS is broadcasting more commercial free music stations than XM, end of story.
No, what I'm saying is that I counted the freaking channels after you made this claim a week ago. As did others.
It is beside the point, though. There is not any serious debate as to which service offers the better music content -- XM provides much greater depth and breadth, better sound quality, and a number of genres that Sirius doesn't even touch (like the 40s era, Folk music, and other genres which are inexplicably missing from Sirius altogether). XM has even overtaken Sirius in the one area it once could claim some superiority in -- hip hop.
SIRI's rock music channels have been watered down with single artists (Elvis, the Who, the Stones, Springsteen) when it clearly isn't warranted. By the time you drop these channels out there just isn't that much left. The lack of diversity and amateurish programming on SIRI's classical channels is weak; in fact, a lot of that music is difficult to call "classical" at all, and is adequately covered by XM's Fine Tuning, which Sirius doesn't have any competition for at all.
Those who haven't experienced both are going to be very pleased with SIRI's lineup, but people who are really interested in the better music content are likely to head for XM.
Not that it matters. Most people are going to stick with what's in the new car they just bought. |
