Appears most analyst think that exclusivity is best and sharing content with terrestrial radio (opie and anthony) is a bad idea for the satellite radio providers.

1. Craig Moffett isn't "Most Analysts".

2. How you got your statement above from what he said is a pretty big leap:

Craig Moffett, analyst at Sanford Bernstein, said Tuesday that sharing Stern with another radio station "would be incredibly problematic to their acquiring subscribers on basis of exclusivity."

Sirius has built its entire business on Stern exclusivity -- they did, after all, spend 3/4 billion on Stern with Stern claiming, "I can't do a quality show on terrestrial radio anymore".

Opie & Anthony, OTOH, are not highly compensated and now represent a PROFIT CENTER for XM (something that Stern can never, ever become on Sirius).

Moffett is right in that Stern going back to terrestrial creates a huge problem for Sirius, since so many people (more than a million subscribers) went to Sirius solely for Stern. His return to terrestrial would cause a big problem for Sirius.

But Sirius has a huge problem either way. Stern is the biggest nonperforming asset in all of satellite & broadcast media. They NEED to find a way to leverage the massive expenditure on Stern, yet returning him to terrestrial is apt to angry the existing Sirius customer base.

What a conundrum.
