The other morning it seemed like that tree and several close to it was a "staging" area for zillions of small, totally black, noisy birds. As if by agreed up signal, they all took flight at once and I never saw them again. Same thing happened about a year ago, as I recall. What do you suppose that was about?"""""""

I don't know we have flocks of birds come into our yard here in Ohio like that. They fly all over the area in dark clouds, descend into the trees and the ground, eat what ever they're looking for and go onto the next home or area. At times like these we see all kinds of birds sitting on the telephone wires or whatever as we're out driving. I happen to like them... I did NOT appreciate the woodpecker who did as much damage as the carpenter bees. It's all repaired and the bees get sprayed every year now. We could break down and have aluminum siding put on, but we love the old brick and wood. It is one of the few homes in the area with wood designed like ours and one can't replace it... not good, so one has to deal with the flying critters that are attracted to it.

Even being in the suburbs we have all kinds of birds and even animals... not bear here... but deer, fox, coyote, possums... skunk... that kind of animal.

One evening my husband and I were walking down the golf course path (supposedly a no-no:) after dark and on part of the walkway which we were upon their are large homes across the way and condos. As we walked past several of the condo's across the golf course a small little dog was bouncing homeward toward the condo and I was going to stop and pet him, but by the time he bounced across the pathway in the moonlight we discovered he was a skunk... I didn't try to pet him <wink> LOL... he must have been quite used to people in the area and he ignored us... thank heavens!!
