Thermite. Here's a link to the best video I could find of a thermite reaction. It's military grade thermite in the form of a thermite grenade. These guys try to open a safe with it and it burns rapidly and emits a lot of heat and sparks, but it isn't a very violent reaction and is hard to even call it an explosion. I don't know how it is even imaginable that somehow this was used to bring down the towers. video.google.com To take down the towers you'd have to have thermite devices that are much, much larger than this grenade and you'd have to have hundreds of them planted throughout the building. You'd need to secretly plant them on dozens of columns on dozens of floors and tie them together with a complex wired or wireless network. You'd have to ignite them in such manner and sequence that they'd have time to burn through the steel exactly when it needed to be burned through. A couple of large problems exist with this theory. 1. It's very difficult to get thermite to burn through steel. Most of the videos I see out there have thermite in a steel or iron pan and the lump of thermite doesn't burn through the pan, it gets it hot, but doesn't burn through. 2. If there's enough thermite in the reaction to melt steel, it takes a LONG time for it to actually do it. It doesn't happen on command. Even very large thermite reactions take time to fully react and start melting the metal. There are a lot more problems with this thermite theory than the above, but these are big issues. I don't see any way that you could do a controlled demo of a building with thermite, it just isn't "controllable" and you can't time it precisely, certainly not precisely enough to take out the columns in the Trade Center in the perfectly sequenced manner that the conspiracy theory crowd is implying. I'll sooner believe that little green men really do live on Mars before I believe that thermite was used to demo the Trade Center.
