matt, i'm not smart enough to vote on that one, but please post the results. give me 99.9% negative and i'm a buyer (again - now down to 1000 sh, just keeping that position for old time's sake)
yeah, i know, a fool and his money are soon parted, many times over. i just find it so hard to believe that anybody, even cowpland, could actually be so incompetent to sink a franchise like wordperfect.
i understand that cowpland is an englishman. i'm told that the english were so disliked for their arrogant attitude towards colonials in the early part of this century that employment ads in the montreal star would often end with the note: "no englishmen need apply."
i should have considered that before i bought 13,000 shares. but what the heck, archie, my total loss on my cowpland bet is only $15,000, give or take a few. (so far, of course - i may repeat my mistakes.)
the serious point here is that it is surprising that with all its advantages, corel does not have a single strategic partner - i.e., is not a player - in the ms software or the java world.
i don't think cowpland knows how to build strategic alliances. perhaps he is too arrogant to know when he needs help. perhaps he is the quintessential englishman of the early 20th century montreal star help wanted ads.
and the only guy who could help us - the great vanni himself -- is now occupying michael milken's bunk.
i better stop right here. gawd knows what vanni could do with my name.
