It said that it took about 0.013 seconds for the columns to go from unloaded to buckled as the weight of the upper floors impacted the columns. That's not 1 second. Not 1/10 of 1 second, but about 1/100th of 1 second. That's from the report. The next step would be to figure out how much strength is left in the column after the buckling has begun. I'm sure that it's a figure that is higher at the earliest stages of buckling and lower at the last stage, but obviously none of us are going to figure that out exactly.
