The war wasn't just short compared to most wars, it was slow in terms of an Israeli action. This slowness to get the war rolling at full strength is one of the reason why I disagree with your assertion that the war was meticulously planned. Its also one of the reasons why the war was so indecisive.

The war was slow this time because, for the first time in history, Israel was forced to contemplate the dire consequences of an all out attack. For times have changed: Syria and, Iran in particular, are no longer weak militarily, and the likelihood of their being drawn into the war had to be taken most seriously. Too bad, things did not go hunky-doryly for Israel this time around. Let's say the Israelis were too discombobulated by the Hezbollah missiles to be able to execute their plan to perfection and, there were threats from Iran. Nevertheless, the Israelis did execute a vital part of their plan --- that of the destruction of infrastructure to preclude replenishments for Hezbollah.
