The Peace dividend due to the end of the Cold War is being squandered. Cheney went along with it for awhile until he realized his darling military--industrial complex was not making as much money mand losing clout. That's when he and other neocons camed up with the mad scheme to start a "World War III". All they needed was an enemy they could sell to the American people and scare us with. 9-11 played so much into their hands that many people suspect them of having something to do with it, or at least not lifting a finger to try and stop it. They were warned on 8-6-01, as we know.

PS: Reagan did not end the Cold War. He presided over a closing out of the Cold War which started before he was president and was pushed mainly by Gorbachev. Though Reagan does deserve some credit. So does Carter. So do thousands of former Soviet people who laid tgheir lives on the line. And ironically, so does Osama Bin Laden and his Mujeheddin and their CIA handlers.
