Have you heard of Prop 13.............our homes are taxed at the price they were bought at and never rise as long as we stay in that house..............no new assessments.............most of us are living in homes that are valued at close to 1M or over and pay taxes based on what we paid many years ago, hundreds of thousands less then they would be assessed at today. We are not the highest taxed state in the Union......we are # 10 in gas taxes tho we pay the highest rates. Don't cry for us out here!!!!!! We're living in a vast paradise of amazing beauty, high wages, and close proximity to the ocean and the Sierras. Plus we have some of if not THE best food on earth and certainly the best wines! :>)
