John, $100 in 1998--it could have been. The sad thing is that Corel had the products and brand name recognition to have been producing growing sales and profits. Dr. Cowpland just doesn't see the importance of proper marketing techniques to move the product line. Technology is far too important to him, he makes all the decisions, and seems his interest is always focused on pursuing technological possibilities of the future.

Now, the focus is corporate marketing, by making special deals with large organizations. This may be successful to some degree, but this should only be one component of a much larger marketing strategy to create a mass-excitement for Corel's excellent products, particularly, Suite 8. I wish Corel well, but it doesn't look good. Seems Corel is experiencing a real "implosion" due to lack of basic marketing infrastructure.
