No I am saying the question has nothing to do with his running for office, nothing to do with the job he does, and was not suitable for a political debate.

That's not what you were saying. You accepted the John Kerry would be asked about his Catholicism, but rejected that Allen could be asked about his Jewish heritage.

As for political relevance. Just as Kennedy was asked about his Catholicism as it related to the Vatican, one can ask whether Allen's Jewish heritage could result in a bias favoring Israel in foreign policy. Plus, for those that don't know it, his Jewish heritage could affect his policy on abortion.

There was no value in asking about something that he originally knew nothing about.

And exactly how would the reporter know that Allen knew nothing about his ancestry?
