maybe when u had made those big profits you could have taken 50% of them and seen how things went for the rest.

i think the point he was making is that resources can be risky and the performance of those companies are not easy to forcast or evaluate because company management has no control of material price. so maybe taking some of the profits that u've definitely made may not be a bad idea.
