Its time for me to buy a new computer for imaging and was checking out both Macs and NT systems. The dropping of cloning by Apple has me very nervous about its future, inspite of Gates'endorsement and especially when John Warnock said on CNBC that even he didn't know what Apple was doing with Rhapsody.
Found out something very interesting: UMAX, that derives its Mac license from Radius, and is one of the last vendors making Mac clones, has gone to making NT workstations as well. A dual pentium II 266 processor, 64 MB Ram, superwide scsi, zip drive, etc., etc., etc, comes pre-loaded with Photoshop, Pagemaker, Illustrator, Pagemill and Type Manager--all for $4995. Does this kind of show how Adobe is entering the PC market with a BANG!!! Will Gateway, Compaq, etc. find a need to compete. Will they also come packaged with Adobe??? Who was saying Adobe doesn't know how to market?
Seriouly interested in UMAX PC, what do others in imaging think?
