<During Musharraf's visit, human rights activists are asking Bush to press Musharraf to restore civilian rule in Pakistan, end discrimination of women, and stop using torture and arbitrary detention in counterterrorism operations. Musharraf seized power in a 1999 coup. Instead of giving up his military uniform in 2004 as promised, he changed the constitution so he could hold both his army post and the presidency until 2007.> "Isn't this exactly what everyone is worried about with Chavez? Not abiding by the term limits of his country? Why are we not putting the hammer down on Musharraf for the same reason? Well, maybe he will step down in 2007......." Yeah... THAT'LL HAPPEN! :-) Don't worry though... Bush said he 'believes him'. (Must have looked into the Dictator's soul and found a 'good guy' or something....) So, little things like elections... or women's rights... or supporting the Taliban and giving sanctuary to OBL and financially backing the 9-11 hijackers and selling nuclear weapons technology to Iran, North Korea, Libya, etc., that's all OK now I guess.
