I haven't seen much comment on the bill in Congress about requiring a photo ID to vote. Apparently, Repubs are for the idea, Dems are opposed.

Maybe I'm just prejudiced, but it seems to me that the Dems oppose the idea because that will prevent them from letting some people vote multiple times, or unregistered voters vote in the name of someone else.

The stated reason for opposition is because it requires voters to produce a photo ID, and that's the same thing as a "poll tax." Doesn't everybody have to have some sort of gov't ID? Isn't an ID required to register to vote?
