Star Wars is and was a huge waste of money. SDI is Star Wars with a new name. It's a huge bottomless pit into which we throw hundreds of billions of dollars. And it doesn't work, has never worked, maybe will never work. And keeps us from being able to pay for real defense projects which actually physically do something. Or to treat soldiers like citizens. Or to give millions of Americans affordable health care, or clean fuels programs or a host of other badly needed programs. Even a tax cut.

Shockingly, SDI/STar Wars has wasted about 75 billion dollars just since Bush stole the 2000 election. You see he upped spending on it, even though all the experts know it doesn't work.

As for the Soviets, they would have accepted Glasnost wherher Reagan was in office or not. They were heading that way before he even came into power. And Reagan carried on Carter's excellent open diplomacy with the USSR instead of stonewalling them the way Bush-Cheney do to all unfriendly nations. Bush-Cheney could learn something about diplomacy from every other president, including Bush's father.
